More exciting improvements are planned for Maxwell Farms Regional Park.
Help us realize this vision!
Sonoma County Regional Parks has updated the master plan for Maxwell Farms Regional Park, a community park in the Springs area of Sonoma Valley, adjacent to the City of Sonoma.
Maxwell Farms is a well-used and loved regional park, with approximately 163,000 visitors in the most recent annual count. Regional Parks developed the new master plan with extensive input from the community. Park planners balanced ideas for new features and infrastructure improvements with conservation objectives to chart an exciting and sustainable vision for the 85-acre park.
When complete, the enhanced Maxwell Farms Park will include two baseball diamonds, soccer fields, an off-leash dog park, tennis and pickleball courts, sand volleyball courts, a children’s play area, enhanced skatepark, bicycle pump track, photovoltaic array and nature trails.

Phase 1 and Phase 2 Updates:
Phase 1 construction is wrapping up, including a soccer/lacrosse field, baseball field, EV charging stations, restrooms and concession stand. We are now raising funds for Phase 2, which includes a re-envisioned skatepark, a set of four pickleball courts and a bicycle pump track, a popular new looped circuit of banked corners and smooth rollers where riders are powered by their own momentum without pedaling.
Skateparks and pump tracks are valuable park features, particularly for teens and young adults who are looking for a healthy outlet in local parks. These activities provide a positive, creative form of exercise and fill a void for teens who are not attracted to team sports. Skateboarding and cycling teach empowerment and determination and create a sense of community and responsibility.

Major funding to implement the Maxwell Farms master plan will come from public sources (including the Measure M sales tax), state and federal grants. But completing this exciting project for the residents of Sonoma Valley also depends on individual donations to the Parks Foundation, and through Team Maxwell, a coalition of local community athletic groups.

As a parent, volunteer coach and long-time resident of Sonoma Valley, I know I speak for many others in saying we have long been in need of a usable and smartly defined outdoor space that our entire community - young and old - can utilize all year long. The current Master Plan delivers on that promise and more - and my family and I are proud to support this project." -- Chris Petrovic
